About Fluffy Butt Farms

You want to feed your family (or yourself) delicious, nourishing meat that actually tastes great and feels good for your body — without the constant disappointment of grocery store options.

But every trip to the store leaves you frustrated:

Wilted produce, bruised fruits, over-processed meats loaded with mystery seasonings, injections, and additives.

You feel disappointed, uncertain, and even a little guilty about what you're putting on the table (especially if, like Tawney, your body just doesn't tolerate the "sad" processed stuff anymore).

It doesn't feel right to settle for fake, factory-farmed food when real, honest nourishment should be the norm.

That's where we come in. We're Chris and Tawney, the husband-and-wife team behind Fluffy Butt Farms in Battle Creek, Michigan. We started this farm in 2020 during the pandemic — when shelves were empty and the only meat we could find was over-processed junk. Like you, we got fed up. We decided to take control, root ourselves in this community (after years of world traveling), and raise meat the way it was meant to be: naturally, transparently, and with care.

We make it simple to get the good stuff:

Browse our farm-fresh cuts raised right here in Michigan (no hormones, no injections, no artificial additives — just animals thriving in a natural environment).

Choose what you love — flavorful, clean beef, pork, chicken, and more.

Pick up your order (nationwide shipping or farm pickup) and bring truly nourishing meat straight to your table.

Pork Shoulder Roast Delivered to Your Door

Pork Shoulder Roast Near Me

Pork shoulder roast is a richly flavored cut that is perfect for slow cooking, braising, or roasting. Cut from the upper part of the pig’s shoulder, this versatile roast has a good balance of meat and fat, making it incredibly flavorful and tender when cooked low and slow. Whether you’re preparing a hearty meal for a family gathering, a pulled pork feast, or a comforting stew, pork shoulder roast delivers rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness.

This cut benefits from long, slow cooking methods that allow the fat to break down and infuse the meat with flavor. Whether you’re roasting it whole in the oven or shredding it for tacos, pork shoulder roast is an affordable and delicious choice that’s perfect for feeding a crowd.

Fun Facts About Pork Shoulder Roast:

  • Pork shoulder roast is sometimes referred to as pork butt or Boston butt. It’s a cut from the upper shoulder and can be used in a variety of dishes.

  • This cut is known for its ability to become fall-apart tender when slow-cooked, making it ideal for pulled pork sandwiches or tacos.

  • Pork shoulder roast is traditionally used in southern-style BBQ, where it’s slow-cooked over wood or charcoal for several hours to create rich, smoky flavor.

  • It’s a budget-friendly cut that provides great value when cooking for a large group or meal prepping.

Nutritional Benefits:

  • Protein: Pork shoulder roast is a great source of high-quality protein, which supports muscle growth and repair.

  • B Vitamins: Rich in B6 and B12, essential for energy metabolism and overall health.

  • Iron & Zinc: Contains iron for blood oxygenation and zinc for immune support.

Cooking Tips:

  • Slow-Cook for Tenderness: The best way to cook pork shoulder roast is to slow-cook it. Whether in the oven or in a slow cooker, low heat over a long period (usually 4-6 hours) will render the fat and make the meat fall apart.

  • Perfect for Pulled Pork: After slow cooking, shred the pork shoulder roast with forks to make pulled pork for sandwiches, tacos, or sliders.

  • Add Flavor with a Rub: Season your pork shoulder roast with a dry rub or marinade before cooking for added flavor. Consider using spices like paprika, garlic powder, and brown sugar for a delicious crust.

  • Roast with Vegetables: Slow-roast your pork shoulder roast with root vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and onions to make a complete meal in one dish.

Cooking Temperatures:

  • Pork shoulder roast should be cooked to an internal temperature of 190-200°F (88-93°C) if you’re slow-cooking for a tender, pull-apart texture. For a roast-style preparation, aim for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and allow it to rest for 3 minutes before serving.

I'll be a return customer for sure.

Made a pot/chuck roast today as one does on a snowy February Sunday.

I knew there would be a difference between what one can find at other places but...whew!... what a reminder of how much quality matters.

I appreciated that I didn't have to skim a ton of fat from my Dutch oven.
And the meat was that: real delicious meat. Very little waste, especially when compared to a store-bought roast.

My recipe is good, but you made today's roast exceptional! Quality meat matters.

Grateful that Fluffy Butt Farms is part of the local community.

Consensus is... best pork chops we've ever had! Sausage was really good too!

Recently found out about them a few months ago, and finally caught up with them at the Kalamazoo farmers market. So far we’ve tried the Oberon brats, pineapple teriyaki, and old fashion brats and they were all the best we’ve had hands down! They also have a great meat rub that was to die for on the pork chops. I’ll be back for more at the next farmers market. Definitely a great farm to buy from!

I have worked in the food industry for over 40 years and have never had pork as good as this! The Hungarian breed of Mangalitsa pigs is amazingly good. Now it’s all I want if pork is on the menu. We eat far less meat these days so when we do we want the best there is. Pasture raised, free to roam in the woods really makes a difference.

We enjoyed an amazing ham for Easter dinner. It had a heavy layer of fat that crisped up under the glaze I used and basted the meat. There is simply no comparison between a mushy, salty processed ham from the grocery store and this delicately flavored smoked farm raised ham!
