About Fluffy Butt Farms

We're Chris and Tawney - owners of Fluffy Butt Farms in beautiful Battle Creek, Michigan. Our farm was established in 2020, at the high point of the pandemic. Our reason? The shelves at our local grocery store were empty. What was left behind we like to describe as “sad” food. Wilted herbs, bruised produce, seasoned meats and of course a whole lot of processed foods, most of which Tawney has problems with.

Before starting the farm Tawney liked to describe herself as a borderline vegetarian. Since starting the farm and raising our own food, we decided to share the fruits of our labors. There is absolutely nothing like fresh farm raised food. We raise our animals in a natural environment, so they get to be animals, we don’t use hormones, we don’t inject the meat with anything. We went from world travelers to growing and raising food for our family and the community in the blink of an eye, and we're excited to be sharing our high quality products with you!

What are Lamb Chops?

Lamb chops, a delectable cut of meat derived from young sheep, have gained widespread popularity in diverse global cuisines. Their appeal lies in their tender texture and distinct flavor profile.

There are two primary types of lamb chops: rib chops and loin chops. Rib chops resemble petite, meaty lollipops attached to the bone, while loin chops are leaner and boast a greater tenderness. Exploring these varieties allows for a nuanced understanding of their unique gustatory attributes, making it worthwhile to sample each to discern personal preferences.

How do you cook Lamb Chops?

Cooking lamb chops is easier than you think.

Here are a few tips:

  1. Seasoning Magic: Keep it simple and season your lamb chops with some salt, pepper, and maybe a sprinkle of your favorite herbs. Lamb's flavor shines on its own.

  2. Sear for Flavor: Heat up a pan nice and hot, then add a bit of oil. Give your chops a good sear on each side. This locks in all those tasty juices.

  3. Don't Overcook: Lamb chops are at their best when they're a bit pink in the middle. Aim for medium-rare, which means about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness.

  4. Let Them Rest: Once they're done, resist the urge to dive right in. Let the chops chill for a few minutes. This lets the juices spread out, making them even more mouthwatering.

  5. Pair with Goodies: Lamb chops love hanging out with some tasty sides. Think roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, or a crisp salad.

  6. Experiment with Flavors: Don't be afraid to get creative with marinades or sauces. A bit of garlic and rosemary or a tangy mint sauce can take your chops to a whole new level.

  7. Safety First: Always use a meat thermometer to make sure your lamb is cooked to a safe temperature. It should register at least 145°F (63°C).

Fluffy Butt Farms Reviews

Consensus is... best pork chops we've ever had! Sausage was really good too!

Highly recommended! Best coffee ever! Staff is always friendly and efficient, orders filled fast and deliveries on time

Recently found out about them a few months ago, and finally caught up with them at the Kalamazoo farmers market. So far we’ve tried the Oberon brats, pineapple teriyaki, and old fashion brats and they were all the best we’ve had hands down! They also have a great meat rub that was to die for on the pork chops. I’ll be back for more at the next farmers market. Definitely a great farm to buy from!

I have worked in the food industry for over 40 years and have never had pork as good as this! The Hungarian breed of Mangalitsa pigs is amazingly good. Now it’s all I want if pork is on the menu. We eat far less meat these days so when we do we want the best there is. Pasture raised, free to roam in the woods really makes a difference.

We enjoyed an amazing ham for Easter dinner. It had a heavy layer of fat that crisped up under the glaze I used and basted the meat. There is simply no comparison between a mushy, salty processed ham from the grocery store and this delicately flavored smoked farm raised ham!
