About West Forty Market

After years of rave reviews over the beef John & Sue Ebensberger were producing on their hobby farm, West Forty (40 acres west of Greene, IA) was born!


We have been selling individual cuts and custom wholesale options in Greene since 2013 and Des Moines since 2016. In September 2019, John & Sue purchased the grocery store in Greene, renaming it West Forty Market. You can find all of our locally raised meats at the store!

After being a full time vendor at the Des Moines Farmers Market and offering delivery around the metro, Teresa (their daughter) decided to open her own retail store in Ankeny, IA in May 2021. West Forty Market is located in Uptown Ankeny and features over 120 cuts of beef, pork, chicken, bison, lamb and turkey - all raised on local Iowa farms and butchered in Iowa. We also feature over a dozen local products, including pasta, rubs, sauces and honey.

The salad dressing from local farmers Goodness Acres is amazing! And so wholesome! My favorite is the Raspberry Vinaigrette! Toss with their greens and plump, garlicky shrimp..chef’s kiss!! For added treat cut up strawberries! Seriously the best! So glad West Forty Market sells it!

We just picked up a meat bundle from WestForty and plan to grill out this weekend! Many friends have recommended their meat. It’s from my hometown of Greene , Iowa ! We had a great chat with Teresa . She is so small town friendly and personable .I know she and west forty Meat Market will be an asset to the uptown area !
